As I’ve been editing the third edition of The Body Rejuvenation Cleanse manual spring showed up here in north west New Jersey. I’ve been inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine to honor spring as Liver/GallBladder time, which is ideal for detoxifying and strengthening the internal organ system. What I really wanted was a beneficial health TONIC to help clear my circulatory system and ease the pain in my arthritic joints, so I put together this morning tea. I have this warm beverage upon waking and again 1-2 times throughout the day. You may want to cut down on processed and fried foods, take a break from coffee and cheese and this tonic will go a long way towards restoring your natural vitality.
Delia’s Spring Tonic
1 Green tea bag
1 Yerba Mate-Ginger tea bag
16 oz hot water
2 teaspoons raw apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoons raw honey (maple syrup or stevia can be substituted)
1. Place the tea bags in a teapot or a French press and pour on the water. Allow to steep according to package instructions, 3-5 minutes.
2. Pour the tea into a cup and add the vinegar and honey, stirring to dissolve well. Sip slowly.
NOTE: I make extra tea to use later for the base of my morning Smoothie or refrigerate to have for my afternoon tonic.
